Stardock announced the next-generation version of its Windows® cursor customization application, CursorFX 4, today. With CursorFX, Windows users can instantly change their default mouse cursor on their computer with animated and themed cursor designs.

CursorFX makes it easy for Windows users to customize their mouse cursors by applying skins, shadows, motion trails, and sounds. Users can also import .PNG files into the CursorFX theme editor to create brand new cursors from scratch.

The new version of CursorFX adds support for Windows 10 and high DPI monitors, several new cursor packs, and more. Thousands of additional cursors are also available for download on WinCustomize.com.

"We wanted to bring better cursor customization options to Windows 10 users," said Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock. "CursorFX has a ton of options for animations, special effects, and sound effects, as well as a robust customization community filled with thousands of users around the world.”

CursorFX 4 will be released soon to all users for $4.99. The beta version is available now for subscribers to Stardock's Windows enhancement suite, Object Desktop. Visit www.cursorfx.com to learn more.

Publius of NV

Thanks, Sean. I can verify that the problems I had with drop down links in Open Office and Thunderbird have been fixed. Right click in Thunderbird also works.  Ctrl-Shift-C now works.  Great job!

Thank you for the feedback, Publis of NV.

Excel dropdown problems still there for me.

What version of Excel / Windows?  What 'drop downs'?

Ok, uninstalled CFX2.  Rebooted.  Installed CFX4, rebooted. It wasn't in all programs, so I went to the install directory, there it was.  Would not launch.

Uninstalled with iObit Uninstaller Pro, rebooted.  Installed yet again. this time it's in all programs, still will not launch.

Chose to right click, run as admin. no go.  What the crap?

Ok, uninstalled again. Reboot.  Installed  and rebooted and this time there is a shortcut on desktop. I launch, 5:20  later it hasn't launched but it resides in task manager using half my cpu.  Still no config window at 6:34 on stopwatch.

7 minutes. I give.

Removed some of the redundant posts and just left these two that are relevant.

Same test as before, if you rename:

\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX\Themes

to:

\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX\Themes.OLD

Does it then open?  If so, and you dump a few from \Themes.OLD into the new Themes directory, does it still work?

Reinstalled CursorFX 4.01-j74 and the only issue I have discovered is that the previews for cursors in the left column isn't showing after install. That is solved however, simply by deleting the "Preview" folder iside the Themes folder of CursorFX.

It seems to be working well with some not so skinning friendly older apps too.

Ok, Sean. I will try once more with your instructions. If it doesn't work. I'll wait for the release.

Clicking on icon in system tray sometimes open config, sometimes not. (Right click - open & double click). Same thing from start menu.

Yes, opens immediately with zero cursors.

Loads fairly quickly with like 50 cursors .

Doesn't load at all with all my cursors installed.  Not even showing in task mgr. as trying to load.

on Mar 21, 2020

All cursors in, I am at 8 minutes 46 seconds. Still no config window.  It does show in Task Manager.

on Mar 21, 2020

I don't see a choice for me but to go back to CFX2.

on Mar 21, 2020

I'm gonna copy all my cursors to a PC that has never had CFX on it.  Try there.  Stay tuned.
