Stardock announced the next-generation version of its Windows® cursor customization application, CursorFX 4, today. With CursorFX, Windows users can instantly change their default mouse cursor on their computer with animated and themed cursor designs.

CursorFX makes it easy for Windows users to customize their mouse cursors by applying skins, shadows, motion trails, and sounds. Users can also import .PNG files into the CursorFX theme editor to create brand new cursors from scratch.

The new version of CursorFX adds support for Windows 10 and high DPI monitors, several new cursor packs, and more. Thousands of additional cursors are also available for download on WinCustomize.com.

"We wanted to bring better cursor customization options to Windows 10 users," said Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock. "CursorFX has a ton of options for animations, special effects, and sound effects, as well as a robust customization community filled with thousands of users around the world.”

CursorFX 4 will be released soon to all users for $4.99. The beta version is available now for subscribers to Stardock's Windows enhancement suite, Object Desktop. Visit www.cursorfx.com to learn more.

Quoting Publius of NV,

Using OpenOffice 4.1.7 to edit a .ods file, when I go to "Save As" I want to click on the "Save as type" drop down list, but using CursorFX with the LightRing cursor downloaded from WinCustomize clicking on that has no effect. If I go to CursorFX and change back to the default Windows cursor, clicking on that drop down list works again.

Note: I also tried several other cursors, both ones that came with CursorFX and some downloaded from WinCustomize, and only the Windows Default cursor works.

I was able to reproduce this and is - no doubt - the same issue that Yrgl is seeing with his older version of PS.

The same thing happens to me in the Thunderbird email client when I try to click on the File drop down menu.  Probably the same cause.

Yes.  About half of the previews are missing from config but show in the directory.

But they did show after you deleted the preview folder / reopened the UI but now again are not, yes?  Does that test work again to resolve it?

It will never be a working solution, I just need to know.

Plenty of left/rightclick and dropdown problems here. Gone back to windows cursor.

I just installed on my computer that didn't have Cursorfx on it. I noticed that when you install a theme the config opens and the cursor isn't there until you open it again and the themes that end in "CurXPTheme" don't work. One example is the Prowler theme. So far every thing else works fine.

on Mar 17, 2020

I have tested download the Prowler Cursor. And yes, once it complete download. The theme config opens but nothing get install then. But if you go to the download folder. And double click on that .CurXPTheme, it get install and I can apply that cursor.

Thank you,

Your right Basj it only installed when the config window was opened. The one's with the cursorfx extension you have to close and reopen the window to see it.

Yes, and yes.

While we're at this, could we add a z-order function?  My cursor sometimes appears under what I'm trying to click. As in hidden by the dialog which holds the target button.

Think I have reproduced what you are seeing...

For CursorFXThemes, they DL, pop the UI to indicated it should have installed - does not, but if you leave the CFX UI open, then double click it it does:

Let me know if I have this correct.

Yes sir

Haven't seen this reported so thought I mention it.  When looking at one of the Cursors in the Theme Preview, I have noticed that some of them are not all visible.  This is just one example, it's the Raum Cursor, made by Libardo and as can be seen, the last Cursor is cut in half.  From what I can see the CursorFX 4 window is fixed, so a scroll bar would be nice there ?

Edit:  Was just going to try a new Cursor, Oberon 7, made by Vampothika, which would have been an even better example to have shown.  According to her preview picture, there is 7 different cursor's animations showing.  In the preview window, there are only 4 showing.

What has been addressed/changed:

For those that reported the initial issues, it would be appreciated if you could report that it has been addressed with this update.

Thanks to all that took the time to test and report - your contributions are always welcome and appreciated.

Thanks, Sean. I can verify that the problems I had with drop down links in Open Office and Thunderbird have been fixed. Right click in Thunderbird also works.  Ctrl-Shift-C now works.  Great job!

Excel dropdown problems still there for me.
