Have you been waiting for AMD’s Ryzen 4000 desktop APUs? Well, your wait could be over in as early as just a few days, according to one retailer. Reports started over the holiday weekend stating that Dutch retailer Centralpoint listed the incoming Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G, Ryzen 5 Pro 4650G, and Ryzen 3 Pro 4350G on their website. The listings say that the higher-end octa-core and hex-core CPUs will ship within "3 to 5 days", with the entry-level quad-core APU expected to arrive in stock on...

I’ll be honest: I take the stars for granted. To be fair, I live in the city and it can be sort of difficult to see the stars most nights, but I can’t deny the incredible awe I feel when I get away enough from the city lights and noise and am able to stare up at the boundless evening sky.  My best friend, Brian, was always fascinated with space. He loved the stars and the idea of exploration and mystery. He was constantly following the exploits of NASA and was e...

In a b log post on June 24, 2020, Sony announced that they were launching a PlayStation Bug Bounty program. I think I've been playing too much Animal Crossing lately, because my first thought was along the lines of "Will they pay me 1.5x more than Nook's Cranny for my bugs, too?" Anyway. Seriously, wake your brain up woman. Wrong kind of bugs. "We believe that through working with the security research community we can deliver a safer place to play," Geoff Norton, senior director ...

Image Credit: Shutterstock If you’ve spent any amount of time on the Internet at all, you’re probably no stranger to the loads of online s cams circling around out there. From Nigerian princes offering you a part of their fortune to a misleading link that plunks you in the middle of dangerous territory, there’s a lot of caution and vigilance required for having an online presence these days. No corner of the Internet is truly safe, and that’s especially t...

I've been on a movie/TV binge lately (at this rate, who isn't anymore?), and a bunch of news regarding my beloved Star Wars franchise came to my attention this morning, so that's what I'm going to talk about - because I can. I partake in a lot of animated shows, so I am no stranger to Mark Hamill's work outside of Star Wars. He is, truly, "the" Joker as far as I'm concerned, and of course has lent his talents to countless other animated characters, including Fire Lord Ozai from Avatar: The L...

I’ve said this before, but I struggle with heavy strategy video games like Galactic Civilizations III and Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. For 4X games, it’s usually that I suffer from decision paralysis because there are just too many options. For RTS games, too much happens too quickly and my brain’s swiss-cheese processing power just can’t keep up. That said, I find that if I am playing a strategy board game, I have an easier time of it....

NOTE: This discussion contains spoilers for Season 1 of The Witcher. If you haven't watched it yet and care about plot points, avoid reading further! The COVID-19 Pandemic has, unfortunately, set a lot of things back on their schedules. Conventions and conferences have been (and are still being) canceled, movies have been delayed, and filming for a certain hit Netflix series ground to a halt. While we might have to wait just a bit longer to resolve some of the cliffhanger question...

I’ve said it before, but I suppose it bears repeating: I love games - board, video, card, and otherwise. In particular, since the board game scene exploded over the last few years, I’ve found myself neck-deep into the hobby, excitedly following blogs and Kickstarter for the next ‘big game’ coming down the line. With all of the new games, sometimes I forget about the ‘classics’ - you know, the kinds of games that have been around forever but may not be as...

Are you running out of streaming shows to binge during quarantine? No worries, John Favreau and The Mandalorian have you covered - the pandemic didn't halt production and the show's second season is still scheduled to release on time. Granted, "on time" means October, so there's still a bit of a wait, but Favreau explained during a digital panel at the ATX Television Festival this weekend that they'd already completed filming before all of the restrictions began. “We were lucky ...

I’ve been thinking a lot about video games that have lots of puzzles in them lately. Maybe it’s because we’re approaching Father’s Day in a couple of weeks and I have fond recollections of playing things like Monkey Island and Myst in the den with my grandfather, or maybe it’s because the long days in quarantine are starting to force me into comfort through nostalgia. Either way, today we’re talking about puzzle games! Honestly, “puzzle game”...

Earlier this year, E3 joined GDC and several other conventions in cancelling their event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some events have adapted with their cancellations by moving some or all of their programming into an online format, much like Microsoft did with their Build conference last month. If you're itching to get the latest gaming news, the announcements start rolling out this Saturday. The PC Gaming Show , which is an annual live-streamed showcase of new games, exclusive gamepl...

I have a confession to make: I have cheated at video games. I mean, not “ professional racer hires gamer to drive virtual race for him ” or “ Fortnite player loses $15,000 in winnings ” kind of cheater - just a regular kind of cheater! You know, like “old school Konami codes” or “‘It is a good day to die’ in Warcraft II” cheater. The kinds of single player cheats that make a game a little easier for the (at the time)...

Credit: NASA/Joel Kowsky Today, American astronauts will launch on a rocket from American soil to the International Space Station, marking a new era of human spaceflight. NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley, chosen for their experience on several previous missions on the space shuttle and extensive test pilot and flight experience, will fly on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon ...

I don’t know about you, but I’m a little stir-crazy at this point. The days are starting to blend together so much that I can scarcely keep track of what day it even is anymore, which becomes especially difficult during the work week since I’ve lost the routine of leaving my house and getting in my car to drive there every day. One of the cool things I’ve seen come out of this quarantine period, however, are the numerous people and companies who have come up w...

The Coronavirus pandemic has forced a lot of events to cancel or adapt to an online format. Cancellations from GDC , E3 , GenCon , and many more have been rolling in since March, and there doesn't seem to be much of a sign of it stopping anytime soon. Microsoft's annual conference, Build, was cancelled and moved to a free online format, which began yesterday. Aimed mostly at software engineers and web developers using Windows, Microsoft Azure, and other Microsoft technologies, Build was...
