Happy New Year!
As much as I love coming into the office, I'll fully admit that after nearly two weeks off it was pretty difficult to roll myself out of bed and drive in here yesterday! While I spent a solid chunk of time socializing with family and friends, I managed to find moments to curl up in my big cozy chair with my cat Miza and play some games over the break.
Isn't she stinking cute? Obviously I'm biased, but I can't say no to that sweet little face.
It's rare these days that I buy a game at launch, unless it's something I'm particularly into (like Zelda, for example), so most of my break was spent playing games that plenty of other people have beaten already - I'm just behind!
I logged another 10 or 12 hours into Dark Souls III, which I've been enjoying a great deal more than I did the first time I attempted it. Having a friend to play it with certainly helps! I wouldn't say I'm great at it, but my rolling techniques have certainly gotten better - and I panic-scream a lot less against most enemies. ...most.
OK, I admit it - I screamed a fair bit when I encountered this guy. In my defense, he came flying in on a LITERAL DRAGON.
Then, just before Christmas, my friend gifted me Disney's Dreamlight Valley...which has since stolen nearly 30 hours of my life. Not only am I a 'Disnerd,' but I also enjoy the calming gameplay of farming games like this. Marrying the two ideas into a single game pretty much grabbed hold of me and didn't let go for a few days.
Do you wanna build a snowman?
If you're noticing that the difference between a game like Dark Souls III and Dreamlight Valley is pretty stark...it's because it is. I have extremely varied tastes. But, that's quite enough about me - what about you?
What have you been playing lately? Did you receive any games as a gift over the holidays and have you started them yet? Are you also snuggling with pets while saving the virtual world somewhere? Please share your stories and pics with me - I want to see them!
