I am a nerd about a lot of things, and in recent years I've found Marvel - specifically its Cinematic Universe - to be no exception. I watched She-Hulk weekly without fail and absolutely fell in love with the quirky nature of the series (breaking the 4th wall is one of my all-time favorite comedic elements).
She-Hulk is the first Marvel property to feature a completely CGI'ed main character, which of course comes with some production challenges. Marvel recently put out a really cool behind the scenes feature that shows everything that went into creating the show. Check it out below!
Tatiana Maslany had to endure some unique acting challenges in the process of bringing Jennifer Walters to life. From motion capture to wearing a piece that extended a few feet above her head so that other actors knew where their eyeline to She-Hulk would be, it required a finesse and a breadth of imagination to help see the end goal of everything. It's a cool look into some of the tech that's making these movies possible today!
She-Hulk aside, we've got other movies to look forward to: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Wakanda Forever. The former movie will release in February of 2023, while the latter is due in theaters next week. I'm excited about both of these for various reasons; in case you've missed the trailers for them, let's start with Wakanda Forever.
I - as well as many others - am still mourning the loss of Chadwick Boseman, but I am excited to see the return of many other beloved characters from the first film. There are even a few new ones hinted at in the trailer that make me feel pretty hopeful for the movie, too.
And now, for Ant-man and the Wasp.
It seems to have its usual wit, while also presenting a pretty fantastical adventure to tackle at the same time. I am frankly thrilled to see more of Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet Van Dyne in this film and hope she'll have a pretty forward role in it. We'll just have to wait and see!
