Things and stuff and things.

It’s that time of year again: our annual publisher sale on Steam starts today and runs through October 13th! You can save up to 75% off on our games, expansions, DLC, and software.

I want to highlight a few of my favorites - and some fan favorites, too! - in case you were wondering where to start.

Offworld Trading Company

I am probably the furthest from a financial mind as you can get, but Offworld Trading Company at least lets me pretend that I have what it takes to be a cutthroat business mogul on another planet. This game is fast-paced and fun to play with friends, especially when you’re on voice communications and can engage in some good-natured razzing.

The ultimate edition will get you everything - which is a lot! You’ll be able to play maps on Mars, Ceres, and Io and can engage in lots of different single-player challenges in DLC like Market Corrections or Blue Chip Ventures.

Sorcerer King: Rivals

This game is the very first one I ever worked on here at Stardock. They had just released it prior to my hiring, and some of my earliest writing tasks were blogging about it. I played a fair bit and I have to say that I still have a soft spot for it.

I love the art style and the writing is hilariously quirky thanks to Chris Bucholz. The heroes and their abilities are interesting and fun, not to mention fully customizable. There is an immense satisfaction to mouthing off to the Sorcerer King and stomping his two big elemental generals into the ground.

Especially at its discounted price, Sorcerer King: Rivals is worth picking up and playing!

Groupy

I mean it: I can’t live without this app. I use it fairly basically, but it makes having limited monitors at home (two, in my case) less of a problem because I can group applications together.

I’m fairly well known for having a multitude of various chat and communication apps up at once, and being able to slap them all together in tabs and let them chill on the same monitor makes getting myself organized that much easier. This is especially helpful when I’ve got X-Split open and I’m streaming and trying to monitor my Twitch chat.

I went so long without tabs for my applications that I didn’t think much of Groupy at first, to be honest. I’d survived so far, did I really need it? The answer is yes, and I think if you try it for yourself, you’ll agree!

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion

I feel like I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention this game! It’s a fan favorite, and if you’ve ever wondered why, now is a great time to grab it for a huge discount. You can get the entire collection - DLC and all - and dive right in to see what all the hype is about.

Sins of a Solar Empire II has been announced, so if you haven’t played the first game and would like to have a basis for comparison and a look into the lore, this is a great way to start.

Will you play the Advent, TEC, or the Vasari? Loyalists or Rebels? My advice: try them all!

There are a ton of sales going on right now from games to DLC to software. It all ends at 1PM ET on October 13th, so make sure you check it out before time’s up!
