Things and stuff and things.

You've probably messed around with some of those AI-generated art memes before. They're definitely neat and super interesting, but they pose a problem for artists these days.

According to Practical Ethics - a blog from the University of Oxford - AI generated imagery "draws on the common pool and democratizes much image generation, often in creative ways through prompt writing, selecting the best output, or entirely new visual forms." An image generated via an AI program even won first prize recently at a State Art Fair

A video game designer named Jason Allen spent roughly 80 hours working on his entry, where first place awarded him with a $300 prize. He shared his work via social media, where it went viral - but not in a good way. When Allen revealed that he had created his art piece using a program called MidJourney that can turn text descriptions into images, people in the art community were incensed.

His ribbon has since sparked a fierce debate about what constitutes art. Allen technically didn't break any rules - nothing expressly forbids the use of AI generation for entries - but it leaves open a gray area that has many artists and art-enthusiasts concerned.

This seems to have also moved over into the video game world with a game called This Girl Does Not Exist. This game recently released on Steam and features simple puzzle gameplay. The developer claims that everything - the art, the story, etc - was generated by some kind of AI.

The game isn't exactly popular - it has one review, and it's far from favorable - but the story behind its existence is as interesting as it is troubling. I originally stumbled upon an article describing the game via Kotaku, and then when I went searching further I found an article about another game that was made using only AI-generated images called Shoon. Shoon hasn't appeared on any storefronts, though - yet.

It's all really fascinating and leaves us to ponder about what art is and what contributions toward art are valid. What are your thoughts on it?

I think we will see some AI generated video games.  I also think we will see a lot of AI used in upcoming video games because of its potential to create infinite sidequests and such.

Now, I'm a pretty big fan of Crusader Kings III and wondered if I could use AI to generate art like what I see in that game.

You be the judge:

an assassin approaching a medieval royal bed, illustrated, painted

a woman holding a baby in a royal bed with the father kneeling by the bed with an assassin sneaking in from behind a curtain behind the bed, illustrated

AI-Art will probably Be a tool for artists/creatives to further develop their Ideas.

For instance, You don't need to play an Accoustic Instrument to be a Musician, and You don't need to paint with a Paintbrush to be an Artist... kinda

I am really not that impressed, why ? The more comfort, the more lazy people become, the more dependent on outside help, the more inept and helpless in general. How come they did not make stuff up on their own ? Where is their own creativity, apart from writing code. Where are their own brains at ? From my unflattering perspective, it looks like a sort of a beginning/progress to a downward spiral. Did you do maths in school with you doing the calculation on paper or at least in your head ? Those who used calculators were generally very weak at it. And continued to be worse, because they were cutting corners. For example I did maths out of my own interest. Before school. About 3-4 school years further than the average. Mathematics used to be my passion. Imagine, somebody does the same as I but with a calculator. A glorified calculator now is hyped as something oomph. Almost as if some people wanted to think it was alive lol. In that sense, even a pc is alive, cause it burns electricity, has heat to dissipate, does calculator work. Hardware, with the new cool stuff inside doing the job. The less you do, you will get used to doing less and doing the same as before will seem very hard. All those creative artists, copying ideas or concepts from one another, because they are that creative. Those guys do not even seem to have a sense for beauty. But at least they made something original through computer work. Computer did the job. Did it do something ? yes. If it is about money, them trying to get money for that, well, let them. Free and responsible to not use it as well. Trying to get an unfair advantage. Anyway, I was wondering, how greatly does the AI program does its job when electricity runs out.

Well said. Well said, my thoughts put into intelligent prose.

Just because we can get a computer to do something does not mean we should.

While the Terminator series may not have been great movie making the warning behind it was an excellent tale of what-if and a first-rate cry to caution.

I dearly hope that mankind never is able to make a self-aware computer program, smart enough to give a descent challenge to the gamer, but not to self-program past the use it is meant designed to accomplish.

Too late. They`re already doing just that. Programmers can`t even understand the code.
