Things and stuff and things.
Oh yeah, it's a pretty cool step forward for science, too.

On July 12th, NASA shared the debut images from its fully operational James Webb Space Telescope. The most powerful space observatory ever built, the JWST provided impossibly detailed images of shimmering stars, warped light trails, and thousands upon thousands of gem-like galaxies twinkling against the vast black of space.

Now, I could go into why this is an incredible leap for science and how the JWST is far and away better than telescopes that are its predecessors, but...why would I do that when I can instead talk about the absolute plethora of memes that swept the Internet when NASA released those first images?

Below is a compilation of my favorites. If you want to know more about the telescope's mission and all the technical science-y stuff, you can check out NASA's website for it here.

Now, onto the memes!

This meme format is always a classic. I definitely cackled.
Poor Hubble (outdated but appreciated!) is the brunt of many of the meme jokes.

Ah-hah! Caught you!

I'm wheezing over this one - but maybe that's because I'm in the demographic that
played the game pictured on the left.

I can see clearly now... (you finished the song in your head, didn't you?)

Poor Hubble cannot catch a break with these memes.

You knew I had to include the cats one, come on.

Even Google got in on the fun with their doodle!

This one is my personal favorite.

Hope you shared a laugh at these! Do you have any favorites that I've missed? Share them in the comments!
