Civilizations are no strangers to struggle - they all face it in one way, shape, or form. The Torians of the Torian Regime are absolutely no different, having endured generations of cruelty and torment under the tyranny of the Drengin Empire.
The Torians were enslaved not once - but twice! - by the Drengin and forced to endure terrible torment as their people were slowly eradicated. Thought by the rest of the galaxy to be extinct, it came as a surprise to nearly everyone when a small group of Torian managed to escape during the chaos of the Drengin’s war with the Terrans and start to rebuild.
The Torians are survivors and are willing to employ any strategy - or people - necessary to keep themselves alive. They thrive on aquatic worlds and receive bonuses for colonizing them; the flip side is that they also receive slight penalties for building up on a world that isn’t covered by water.
Vowing never to be enslaved again, the Torians have employed many mercenaries and allies in order to make sure that never happens. Although they have lost much, they are strong spirited and refuse to be broken, which makes their civilization incredibly difficult to culture flip.
Despite most of their race being wiped out, the Torians have learned to endure and, dare they to hope, even flourish. The Torians have the “fertile” ability, which starts them with 2 additional workers and grows their population 25% faster.
Because of their history, the Torians have access to the Unbroken Spirit technologies. They believe strongly in equality and that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. The Torians have access to unique aquatic tech just like other aquatic races and can colonize oceanic worlds without any penalty or additional research requirements.
Explorers by necessity, the Torians have a large range for their ships and move very quickly, allowing them to spread out rapidly and colonize new worlds. They’ve remained un-discovered by the Drengin this long, and they aim to keep it that way.
The Torian Regime is one of over a dozen civilizations available in Galactic Civilizations IV, which is in beta right now!
