Has anyone else been watching the Book of Boba Fett on Disney+ recently? While it's not my favorite overall out of what we've been given in Star Wars offerings so far, I'm having fun with it. I learned today that there was a game originally scheduled to give Boba Fett his time in the limelight, but unfortunately it won't ever see the light of day.
Apparently, I live under a rock because the game was in development and being talked about back around E3 in 2012, but I'm only just now hearing about it. This is the gameplay footage they released back then:
Although I'm of the opinion that Boba Fett is a little overrated and played out, I still appreciated seeing his side of the Star Wars universe. Certainly the opportunity to play him in a video game and go chasing down bounties is greatly appealing, and it's sad we'll never actually get to do so. If you're an Uncharted fan, it seems like Star Wars: 1313 was modeled very much after that gameplay style, which would have been a great deal of fun.
As if it weren't already a huge bummer, the recent release of never-before-seen gameplay footage just makes this a tougher pill to swallow. A YouTube channel called the Vault is dedicated to uncovering and restoring builds of the also canceled original third entry in the Star Wars: Battlefront shooter series, shows Fett in action.
Obviously, the graphics and polish aren't as nice as the above trailer, but considering this is what you'd see during gameplay - from a game back in 2012! - it's pretty awesome.
In general, there doesn't seem to be any hope that the video game will get picked up again...but, considering the Boba Fett hype right now from the TV show, maybe that will change.
What do you think?
