***SPOILER ALERT*** If you haven't watched season 1 of The Mandalorian yet, this article discusses some important plot elements. If you care about being surprised, read no further - drop what you're doing and go give it a watch!

If you've been missing the adventures of Mando and his adorable charge known only as The Child, then you don't have much longer to wait. Disney+ confirmed last week that Season 2 of The Mandalorian will debut on October 30th, 2020.

Entertainment Weekly has some "first looks" at the new season, which showrunner Jon Favreau says is about "introducing a larger story in the world," one that will compel all of the heroes and villains to choose a side. The first season largely focused on introducing characters and making viewers aware of the world they inhabit (which takes place 5 years after the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi). Season 2 will focus on Mando trying to keep his small charge safe as outside forces converge to either help him in his quest, or take the Child for themselves.

Favreau also said in an interview with EW that the story will not only expand around the Mandalorian and the Child, but it will also give other characters larger storylines. Producer Dave Filoni added, "Everything gets bigger, the stakes get higher, but also the personal story between the Child and the Mandalorian develops in a way I think people will enjoy."

According to various articles, one of the biggest stories of the upcoming season will center around Moff Gideon (played by Giancarlo Esposito). He is an Imperial officer who is in pursuit of Mando and the Child and essentially serves as the series' Dark Side temptation. He also has the Darksaber and isn't afraid to use it.

The new season sees all of the main characters returning, along with some heavily rumored debuts. Disney has kept a pretty tight lid on whether these rumors are true or not, so we'll just have to wait until October 30th to see for ourselves.
