IKEA is killing the social media game during Quarantine 2020. Between releasing their meatball recipe (complete with IKEA diagrams!) and a series of how-to-build your own blanket forts, they have been bringing humor to an otherwise frustrating time.

Most recently, the company’s Taiwan division released an homage to Animal Crossing by replicating segments of their 2021 catalog directly in the game. It’s extremely clever, super creative, and definitely put a smile on my face.

Honestly, I think my favorite part of the whole production is the staged IKEA store photo that the company included in the comments.

Animal Crossing has a long history with modding; people have been creating custom patterns for paths, clothing, and walls for years now. The newest version of the game for Nintendo Switch has made access to mods especially easy: players can enter in a creator or pattern code into a kiosk at the Able Sisters’ Tailor Shop to download and save a custom pattern for use on their island.

As you’re probably well aware, we love mods here at Stardock. We encourage them for our own games (our Sins of a Solar Empire mod community is especially robust) and we love seeing them in games we enjoy playing in our free time. Animal Crossing is, of course, no exception, and to be honest I am constantly floored by the things that people are able to create within the confines of the game.
