Start11 v1.2

Stardock released v1.2 of Start11 today. Start11 is a program that allows users to customize the Windows® Start menu and taskbar for Windows 10 and 11 and can make the Start menu appear as it did in previous versions of Windows, enhancing the experience with new features and functionality.

Start11 v1.2 focuses specifically on enhancing the Windows 11 experience by re-building the taskbar from the ground up to add new functionality. With this release, users will be able to ungroup items on their taskbar with their windows centered or left-aligned.

“The new taskbar features are designed to deliver functionality from previous versions of Windows but make them look and feel native to Windows 11,” said Brad Sams, VP and General Manager of Stardock Software. “With our new taskbar experience, we have created a foundation for bringing additional functionality to Windows 11 to further our mission to make Windows more personal and productive.”

The enhanced multi-monitor support in v1.2 allows the user to define window grouping for primary and secondary monitors so that the user can dial-in the perfect taskbar experience. Users will also be able to re-size the taskbar, allowing them to increase its height to make it easier to see all the windows on their taskbar.

Hello appreciate the update but there are some key things missing.

1. The drag and drop feature is most welcomed BUT it does not apply to the Show desktop button in the corner.

I have a program in place already to enable drag and drop to the taskbar and corner show desktop so this new update does not replace my program.

2. I love the taksbar running tabs larger expanded showing the text BUT wish there was a way to enable a (X) Close button in the corners like i believe some older windows had.

3. It would be nice to have the taskbar pinned icons sitting next to the system tray and opening tabs to the left. But i might be asking too much.

Right now dont really see the point of the update for me anyway without these features.

Is there some place else i should be posting these suggestions?

I am not aware of any version of Windows which had a close button in the corner of taskbar buttons. That said it is an interesting idea and a UI element used for tabs so worth considering.

We were not aware of dragging to the show desktop button doing anything hence why it doesn't do anything you want.  It might be fairly simple to add that in, though newer versions of Windows may complicate that a little due to changes in the OS.

The beta version didn't support toolbars in the taskbar (for example a very useful BatteryBar) and the MS weather widget. Does the new 1.2 version support these?

I boght the Start11 but I'm using the other taskbar app that has both of these (together with ungrouping taskbar items), but I'd like to switch to Start11 when it supports toolbars and MS weather widget.

Yeah win10 and before had the drag and drop to taskbar and corner show desktop WHICH IS INCREDIBLY USEFUL

Regarding the close (x) i may be remembering wrong

Also is there a way to have open windows move to the far right when open?

it is sort of odd to have a open tab with text then a closed window without text.

Unusable for me.  Virtually nothing works as it should.  I created a Fence but it's non-working,  I created 2 groups (one by accident) which are unusable and cannot be removed.  None of the Apps open when clicking on them.  All very odd.

I believe the "X" is on the thumbnail preview popups when you hover over top of a taskbar item

Please let us know when the taskbar can be moved to the either side of the screen and work as before with Win10 and earlier.

This is really the only issue keeping me from upgrading to Win11 until forced to do so.

Yeah but do you know how much easier it would be if it was on the tabs themselves !! Windows is really behind...
